I know this bracket was for a Chevy and not meant to fit a 2006 dodge ram 1500… but because I wasn’t willing to pay the 6x greater price for the only correct bracket I could find, I took a 10$ risk and bought this. Test fits looked like it was made for this truck, so as soon as the daughter and I had a day off together I tore into her truck. The fit was really easy, I pulled the door seal, revealing the mounting rails/ drip rails. These are held on with torque screws, pulled the two right above the window and found they lined up perfectly with the holes in the bracket. Test fit the bar with these holes. Once sure of location, I drilled out the holes for blind nuts. The brackets come with screws, but I like the blind nuts better. Once these were in, it was as simple as bolting it all together, the wiring fit perfectly under the windshield molding, everything looks perfect.Even with using this on the wrong vehicle, it’s perfect. Very strong metal, decent coating (yes…I dropped a bracket onto the concret and noticed no chipping). I would recommend this bracket for anyone, even at twice the price. Only negative I could give would be the two mounting holes… not sure what that was for. At some point I may drill and tap the light bar itself and put another bolt there, but that will only be if she has trouble with it rotating.Again, very impressed with everything about this bracket for the price. Saved me making my own and a lot of time. Daughter is super excited for night to get here lol.
Fit 2008 Suburban perfectly.Cut the upper bolt hole off with an angle grinder and re-radiused the mount. Also cut the inside of the bracket with a thin angle grinder in an 8 point star pattern slightly, which eliminated all spin of the light bar when torqued down completely (rather than add electrical tape or whatever else people are using). After those modifications, I painted it with Satin Black which matched the powder coat wonderfully.Even though I did all those modifications to suite my particular needs, this is a very high quality product.
Works perfect…awesome accessory mount. Mounts various accessories in a good spot. Well builtFor all of the others who complain that things hit the antenna when you open the hood, sure it does, but that’s a minor inconveinece…it doesn’t cause any damage, doesn’t hurt a thing, just how many times are you opening and closing your hood anyways? Checking your oil 4-5 times a day? Do you drive down the road with your hood open? I sure don’t. If something as minor as your antenna getting bumped bothers you…you probably don’t need to be accessorizing your vehicle in the first place.
