These weren't even past my hips and I was in love. The vintage denim is a very broken in feeling, soft but substantial denim. Like quality jeans that are 5 years old and still going strong.

I'm a 24 at Lane Bryant and a 26 at Levi's. I feel like I would probably normally be a 26 at Madewell (these are my first pair from here) but I went with a 24 and they fit perfectly.

I think these work for me because I carry a lot of weight in my calves, thigh and hips. What I love is the taper, they feel like they were made for my legs. Lastly, I'm 5'5 and of course go down to my ankle bone, but I can cuff them to get that cropped length. This is the norm for my height with all jeans.

This is my first time buying jeans from madewell & the jeans I bought had no reviews so I went solely off the size chart and the information in the product listing. 

My usual problem trying to buy jeans is the plus size jeans that fit my waist (43) & hips (53) are way too wide on my thighs and lower legs so I was excited to read that these are described as “fitted through the hip and thigh”. I love the silhouette of these jeans on the model so I was hopeful they would fit similarly on me (aka I was looking for fitted high rise top but lower leg looser than a “skinny jean”).

I bought 20W based on the size chart. The rise is nice, the waist fits ok and the thighs are a little loose, something in between fitted or baggy. The lower leg and opening are ok but again are looser than how they look on the model. I bought these for a last minute trip (I don't have time to fuss with a return) so I'm going to keep them but if this was not my situation I would try exchanging for a size down.
